Never under-estimate the tiniest of things.
I'd like to have a coat with a hundred pockets, all filled with little treasures. I'd roam the streets all day and sell my treasures to hurried strangers. This song is fitting: click.

I'm in need of adventures. Holidays are still a few weeks away, so I try to still my wander-hunger by watching many travel/science-documentaries, digging up pictures of almost-forgotten trips, searching for tickets I can't afford, and baking bread.
Baking bread is like an adventure on its own. Mixing and kneading until your hands hurt, waiting and watching as the dough rises (a magical thing if you ask me), shaping the bread and cutting the top slightly, watching it slowly split open as if it were alive, whispering sorry under your breath, putting it in the oven, and waiting again. The smell of baked bread starts to take over the smell of yeast. Knocking to see if nobody is home and then, unable to wait for it to cool down, taking a bite of a fresh warm slice of homemade bread. Lekker!

This morning another quick visit to my new favourite museum in Hamburg. I can never get enough of some dead mice. Especially when they look so cute you want to cuddle them or when they are so stiff they look like lollypops. It may be a bit creepy and not very appropriate to say this, but they almost look kind of delicious.
Besides the mice there are many more amazing things, like the mid-jump-cat, the kiwis, the funny sassylooking thing, the fetuses in jars, the colourful butterflies, the orangutan who drowned herself 5 years a go and is now forever flirtatiously looking at the other orangutan, who is blowing kisses at the lazy jaguar, or the gigantic bluewhale jaw-bone.. I could probably go there everyweek and never ever be bored.

This week was filled with stacks of books, "unheimliche" ghoststories, discussions on art and life, dimly-lit smokefilled rooms, (bedroom)dancing, goldenrimmed-porcelain-cups filled with wine, the last golden leaves, German puzzles, cats, magic moments and beautiful people.
Next week I'll be 21, which means I will be officially a grown-up. But as long as my days still feel like they come from fairytales and short stories in books with yellow pages, I won't feel too old.

I want to be a cat. I made a mixtape about it. Jeroen is the master of adding catness to pictures.

School is over, we passed, had pizza, then I slept for a day and had many dreams about pizza.
pizza pizza pizza.
I had this pizza in Little Creatures in Melbourne, which is the kind of place you'd definitely hang out a lot if you're awesome and hip and in your 30s with two little kids and lots of other awesome and hip friends. Then you drink some fancy beers and eat rosemary pizzas and read some old biology books with pretty drawings of plants.

I suffer from a severe case of the post-travel-blues. I am still looking for a suitable cure.

[& part one in the subtle shopwindow design series. & my 300th post with quite a bad photo. ah well.]

My mum and I are going to Ghent, Belgium this week. Have you been there? Do you know of nice places we should definitely go to?

"be master and designer of yourself."

this piece of wall is the one I can look at easily from everywhere around the room, so that's where I put up sketches so I can see if I still like them after a few hours, or a few days.

During the Christmas holidays, my parents and I made a little trip to Antwerp, to visit MuHKA. It is one of the funnest museums I've ever been to, because the curation was really strange and surprising. A lot of things didn't seem to make much sense, which made you think about it more and look more closely. I have laughed a lot because of little hidden 'jokes', like those paintings above the emergency exit.

During winter they killed my favourite houses, the ones I used to look at from my window. But then snow came and for a while the pink and orange tiles, as reminders of the houses, made a beautiful landscape with the surrounding whiteness. I sneaked in via broken fences and left my footprints in the snow. Now it's spring and they've removed everything, all I see is a big open sandspace.

Food in different countries is always a bit more special because it's different. This is what excited me in England.

Tea in the cutest teahouse where they set a timer for when the tea was ready! that was some serious excitement. // Jo made this delicious ricecrispymarshmellowchocolatedelight with my name on it! Which is one of the sweetest things on earth (doublemeaning with sweet! haha). // late night snack with raspberries and Jo's homemade FlapJacks and custard // Valentine's day icecream, with sparkles in your mouth. It was very good // the biggest apple I'd ever seen.

There were three days when I was in England with Jo and those were very happy days because we did very nice things and Jo is a lovely lovely person and we got matching bracelets and saw Sherlock Holmes and Anselm Kiefer and did more nice things of which you will eventually maybe see pictures. If you can't wait, you can also click on Jo's name and see her pictures on her blog (but you are warned because I am very good at looking silly).

Support your local girlgang.
It's my favourite bag at the moment. Get your own and the zine here! (Also, it didn't arrive that crinkled, but I had to use it a few times first before I took pictures)
