German easters are slightly different than the Dutch ones. Everyone seems to have left town for familyweekends with big meals and presents and I dont know what. Meanwhile, Hamburg is busy covering herself with a blanket of snow.
So my weekend will be spent inside with a lot of coffee, fellow lonely souls, tulpen aus Amsterdam, pancakes and some good books. Maybe not very German, but enjoyable nonetheless.
Frohe Ostern!

I have a very lovely and talented friend who goes by the name of Lukas / Lukat. He wrote and illustrated a real actual graphic novel and is very famous now because it is real good. I bought it in my favourite bookstore and finished it later that night, in the light of googletranslate, hidden under covers.
I never quite liked comics as a kid. I only read them on holidays when I had already finished all my own librarybooks and had to read the comics my brother had picked out (some sort of compromise of my mum, who tried to get him to read). But recently I have discovered the joys of graphic novels. It is like watching a movie in your hands. I read them often in the library of Amsterdam. If you know of any good ones, you should let me know.
I was a very lucky girl because my copy is signed with a cat. Maybe you are not so lucky, but you could still get the book and then you are also a bit lucky.

Wow thanks for all the nice reactions on the last post! I'll put the deadline for this sunday, so you can still comment and be in it to win it. (HA).

These days I've been doing a lot of reading (dreaming) and drawing (practicing) and working (learning) and also some obsessing over amazing ladies like Marina and Patti

Oh Christmasholidays. You know. Staying in bed forever, making cards and books, drinking coffee, eating cookies, dreaming of other places, watching documentaries, listening to top2000.. And of course; seeing friends and family for more coffee and food!
How are you holidays?

This week was filled with stacks of books, "unheimliche" ghoststories, discussions on art and life, dimly-lit smokefilled rooms, (bedroom)dancing, goldenrimmed-porcelain-cups filled with wine, the last golden leaves, German puzzles, cats, magic moments and beautiful people.
Next week I'll be 21, which means I will be officially a grown-up. But as long as my days still feel like they come from fairytales and short stories in books with yellow pages, I won't feel too old.

My first mail in Hamburg was very exciting because it was a SOVA-mail from Martin, right after the release-party where I got the fancy bag. And this issue is an especially cool one because Synchrodogs are on the cover and there are lots of really great artists in it. Check it out for yourself! You can get your copy now, for only 10 euro in the bookshop! Or you can get the poster (photo of me showing the poster - skirt not included. made by me!), for only 3 euro! (I hope you read this in a tell-sell kind of voice, because that's how I wrote it. If not. Read it again with the voice.)
Today I got four envelopes in the mail. That is really pretty exciting isn't it! I still don't know how the postman gets into the building, and actually if you do know, don't tell me, because I kind of like having a few mysteries in my building.

Souvenirs of latenight magazine-making and happy colourful memories.
I like collecting little cards and receipts and candywrapping and then let them get lost in my stuff, so I will randomly discover them again from time to time and smile and be happy a bit.

A new member for the dead mice collection and Mister Motley, my favourite Dutch art-magazine. On the cover Ryan McNamara. I can not stop staring at this photo.

Lotta let me borrow 'The man with the dancing eyes' by Sophie Dahl. A very cute story with even cuter illustrations. On a rainy day, I sat down in the library in Amsterdam in a big comfortable chair looking out over the water and read this book a few times, then I read all the graphic novels I could find.

(pictures of my evaluation; drawings, books, architecture models of my house, magazine, architecture drawings, poster for cigarperformance with drawing by Lotta)

I passed my final evaluation, which also means I passed the first year of the Design Academy.
I can't believe this year is over. It feels like time has gone by so fast, although when I think back of the person I was when I started this and look at the person I am now, they feel so different.
This has definitely been the most intense year of my life (so far). I've never worked so hard, stayed up working for so many nights in a row, gone through such deep lows but also such high highs.
But it's been amazing. I got to know so many inspiring and wonderful people. And I've learned so much. I got accepted here with some 'graphic work', some photos and a few drawings. And now I've made chairs out of wood and metal, I've made ceramic vases, I did performances, learned about myself, painted huge paintings, drew a lot, made weird shapes, wrote articles, drew architecture plans etc.
But for now: Summer! I'm leaving for Australia this sunday which is amazing, but I will miss everyone here, after seeing them pretty much every day since this year started. I woke up to a text: "Bobby, what am I going to do without you? I already miss you." so today we did some Academy rehab, by hanging around school, drinking iced coffee. I do have quite a few wonderful non-academy adventures planned this week though, don't worry ;)

In London we drank a lot of coffee, sat around in parcs and watched people. I got educated on British culture (Whitnail and I, crumpets, tea with milk, etc) by my two favourite british girls, and of course we did some shopping.
I bought a lace buttonup, a floral 3-pound dress, fluffy animals that we made into earrings and lobster will turn into a ring, a moodring and Oh Comely. Oh Comely is perfect and full of cute images / illustrations and stories.

My lace button-up has the most beautiful collar in the world, so I made tons of photobooth pictures.

I enjoy making little books. This was a storyboard for drawing class. It's a movie about people on flying donuts and a girl who falls into a tea-sea.

A couple of weeks ago, I received my copy of Sova Nr.1 - Sleep. It is a independent, self-published magazine full of people I adore and love (and many more), all put together by my favourite cat. And there is pink and see-through paper, which is always a big plus.
It was definitely one of the nicest things I've received in a while ♥.

I'll go to sleep now. meow.

We went to two art supply stores today. The big and amazing one where they have everything and you have to try really hard not to buy everything, and the cute little one that had a major sale.
The gridpaper is already put to good use in a little collage I've been making. You can see a detail here, I might post more of it later.
